And so, this blog will be taking a rest for a few days, as will we. Take the chance to catch up on archived essays, or hit some of the adjoining blogs and the ones adjoining those. It's been fun finding a community of bloggers out there with whom I have so much in common.
In these days of despair, it's always good to find some more friends and family.
Until later, I'll leave you with some favored nature quotes.
Peace.

I was born upon thy bank, river,
My blood flows in thy stream,
And thou meanderest forever
At the bottom of my dream
Henry David Thoreau
I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't take notice.
Alice Walker
Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it.
Norman Maclean
Let the rain kiss you.
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby.

Wishing you and your family an wonderful trip!
I love the Maclean quote.
Have you ever read any of Annie Dillard's works? I'm thinking especially of "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek."
No. I'm not familiar with Dillard. Intriguing title, though.
And a great Buechner quote atop your blog. But what's the deal about the Rooster?
Dillard’s P@TC won the Pulitzer Prize. It’s Thoreauvian as to its subject matter. Given many of your Blog entries I suspect you might enjoy it. She basically recounts her search for God in nature. The writing is beautiful, but can be a tough read at times. Here’s the way a particular editorial review at Amazon speaks of the work: “A remarkable psalm of terror and celebration." I’d agree with that sentiment.
The "Rooster" thing is me being stupid. I'll post a response on my Blog as to how it arose.
Hope you have a great trip--I hope you'll give us a story or two when you return.
Thanks for the quotes. The Alice Walker one had me cracking up!
i hope you are having a wonderful trip! i can't wait to hear of your adventures and new insights!
