We Are Marching Together...

This is a song we sing every year at our Easter service and so, we've found a way to march together, while marching apart. It's a song that rose from the anti-Apartheid movement in South Africa, a protest against oppression and in solidarity with the people, in the light of the God of Justice.

We are marching in the light of God,
We are marching in the light of God.
(Repeat)
We are marching, marching,
We are marching, marching,
We are marching in the light of God.

Transforming Systems

Remembering the words of Dr King from roughly this week over 50 years ago, from his "Beyond Vietnam" sermon...

"We must rapidly begin the shift from a “thing-oriented” society to a “person-oriented” society.
When machines and computers,
profit motives and property rights
are considered more important than people,
the giant triplets of
racism,
materialism, and
militarism
are incapable of being conquered.

A true revolution of values will soon
cause us to question
the fairness and justice
of many of our past and present policies.

On the one hand
we are called to play the Good Samaritan
on life’s roadside;

but that will be only an initial act.

One day we must come to see that the
whole Jericho road must be transformed
so that men and women will not be
constantly beaten and robbed
as they make their journey on life’s highway."

++++++

Timely words.

A Poor People's Campaign is needed, still, to change systems that fail the so-called "least of these."

A Late Winter Snow

With all the craziness and odd times, one sweet result is that our daughter is home from New York for an extended stay (while she continues to work on school online). She and I co-doodled out a song since she's been home, saying goodbye (probably) to winter as it winds down.

This is me playing on an octave mandolin (where I'm very much a student learner) and her playing guitar. The video of us playing ended up blurry, so I've provided some wintry scenes for most of the video.
